Match sleeping places to the people aboard

Compare who will sleep in each cabin and whether anyone would use the saloon. A berth total is not the same as a private cabin for every couple. For a smaller group, look at the layout you will actually use rather than choosing solely by maximum capacity.

Jeanneau's Sun Odyssey 440 is an example of a model with alternative interior layouts and a distinction between cabin and saloon accommodation. That explains why a model name alone is insufficient; inspect the specification of the individual yacht you are considering.

Choose the sailing area and departure together

For an Ionian plan, compare Lefkada, Gouvia on Corfu and mainland Preveza. For the Saronic Gulf or Cyclades, weigh an Athens-area departure against a separate Lavrion start. The departure base affects the route discussion as well as your arrival arrangements.

Kos and Rhodes provide different Dodecanese starts; Volos and Skiathos give mainland and island choices for the Sporades. Keep your intended islands and available sailing days in view while checking the exact departure and return base on each offer.

Bareboat or skippered?

Bareboat means your party takes responsibility for sailing without a supplied skipper. The charter company must confirm the experience and documents it accepts for the yacht and area. Do not treat the name of a certificate as automatic approval.

For a skippered charter, agree whether the skipper is included or added, their sleeping arrangements and service scope. Cooking and hosting need separate confirmation. Compare the actual equipment listed on the yacht, including the items your sailing plan depends on.
